1 package lime Kool Aid (or other flavor)
2/3 cup sugar
1 can evaporated milk
The way Grandma K___ did it:
Mix the ingredients. Put in an ice cube tray (the old fashioned kind without the divider) and put in the freezer until ice crystals start to form around the edges. Put in bowl and mix on high speed until mixture is very thick, kind of like whipped cream. Pour back into ice cube tray; put back in freezer until frozen.
More modern instructions:
Put everything in a bowl, add mixer beaters to the bowl, and put in freezer until ice crystals start to form around the edges. Put beaters in mixer and mix on high speed until mixture is very thick--kin of like whipped cream. Put bowl back in freezer (without the beaters) until frozen.
Mom's note: I couldn't get it to whip as thick as cream, though I whipped it for about 10 min. It still tasted good, though. Maybe it would work better to chill the milk alone, then whip it and then add the sugar and Kool Aid.
