1 cup sugar
3 Tbsp. light corn syrup
1 cup butter (not margarine)
1 Tbsp. water
pecans, almonds, or other nuts (optional)
chocolate bar (optional)
Put all together and stir well. Now, put on to cook. After it comes to boil, keep stirring all the time. Cook until hard crack stage or 310° on candy thermometer. This takes about 15 minutes. Pour over nuts which have been placed in bottom of 9x9 inch cake pan. Sprinkle broken pieces of chocolate bar over mixture while hot. In a few minutes, spread chocolate evenly over candy. When completely cold, break into small pieces.
